KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will chair a meeting today to decide whether the lockdown across the province will be extended or not.
The chief minister chaired a meeting on the same issue on Friday but a decision was not reached. He said that decision on an extension in lockdown will be taken after approval from the provincial cabinet which will be held today.
He also called for a uniform policy to be implemented in all provinces across the country to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. He said that the government is considering to make industries and factories operational with minimum employees to ensure social distancing and safety measures.
He said that the lockdown could not be ended abruptly and the restrictions will be lifted gradually. A lockdown has been imposed in the province since last month as the local transmission of the coronavirus has increased in Sindh. As of today, Sindh has reported 1,214 confirmed cases of the infection with 22 deaths.
