LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s wife has tested positive for the novel coronavirus today (Friday), according to a private news channel.

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has confirmed the development, adding that the chief minister’s wife is feeling alright. However, the Punjab chief minister hasn’t commented on the development so far.

Some media outlets reported that the chief minister’s wife got herself tested after feeling symptoms of the virus. She has quarantined herself at her home after testing positive.

Earlier on August 1, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary-General Ahsan Iqbal again tested positive for coronavirus, almost a year after he had first contracted the COVID-19.

Taking to Twitter, the PML-N leader said, “I have again tested positive for COVID and have gone into quarantine.” He urged people to pray for him and asked the masses to wear masks and follow COVID-19 SOPs to keep the virus at bay.

The PML-N leader tested positive days after PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb had announced the party’s vice-president Maryam Nawaz had tested positive for coronavirus.

Notable Pakistani politicians, including Prime Minister Imran Khan, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, have tested positive and recovered from the virus.
