Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, during the inauguration of the Maskan-e-Ravi Housing Scheme on Monday, highlighted the lasting contributions of her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, to the nation’s progress over his 45 years of service.
Maryam emphasized that whenever the country’s nuclear program or key development milestones are discussed, Nawaz Sharif’s name will always be mentioned. She credited the PML-N for significant advancements such as ending loadshedding and executing various development projects, all of which, she said, align with Nawaz’s vision for the country.
The Maskan-e-Ravi Housing Scheme aims to provide homes to low-income families, addressing the housing crisis in Punjab. Maryam noted that the provincial government is already assisting in housing by offering interest-free loans through the “Apna Ghar, Apni Chat” program, with more than two million people in the province still without their own homes.
Promising a solution for this issue, she vowed to provide homes to 100,000 people annually. Additionally, she announced a new initiative that will allot three-marla plots to homeless individuals.
In her address, Maryam also outlined ongoing infrastructure developments, including the construction of 400 new roads across the province. She further shared that 25 electric buses had arrived in Karachi and would soon be introduced in Lahore as part of the government’s efforts to improve public transportation.
