Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has warned of dissolving the provincial assembly if the federal government continues to interfere in the affairs of the province and creates hurdles in the budget.
In a video statement, Gandapur accused the federal government of creating hurdles in the passage of KP’s annual budget. “I can dissolve the assembly at any time,” he declared, warning that failure to pass the budget could pave the way for the federal government to impose a financial emergency and take control of the province.
He further claimed that efforts were underway to topple the KP government through conspiracies. Gandapur also alleged that Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has not approved the summary for convening the budget session, further deepening the political crisis.
CM Gandapur said that he has instructed members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly not to participate in voting on cut motions today. “If voting on cut motions begins, the process of approving the budget will begin,” he added.
He said that the budget cannot be approved without consultations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, adding that the government is not allowing for the meeting between Imran Khan and the PTI leaders on the budget.
“Consultation with Imran Khan on the budget approval is his political right,” Gandapur said, adding that the budget of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will only be approved after approval by Imran Khan.
“We are not being allowed to meet the founder of PTI on the issue of the budget. I will not let this conspiracy succeed. We will launch a movement against this system; this system cannot continue anymore,” CM Gandapur said, adding, “We will not let such a system continue.” he concluded.
