All theatres across Punjab will remain closed from 1st to 13th Muharram, according to an official notification issued by the provincial authorities.

The Punjab Arts Council stated that, out of respect for Muharram-ul-Haram, no drama or cultural or entertainment programmes will be held in theatres during this period.

The council directed all theatre managements across the province to strictly ensure the implementation of the ban on stage performances during the first thirteen days of Muharram.

Officials said the decision has been taken to maintain the sanctity of the religious month and to ensure respect for religious sentiments during Muharram observances.

Authorities have warned that any violation of the directive will be dealt with according to the law.
