The Karachi Metropolitan Government has announced the implementation of new taxes on wedding halls under various categories, including parking, live cooking, barbecues, and beautification.
The decision follows a formal request from the Wedding Halls Association, prompting the city administration to formulate a comprehensive tax plan.
Challans will be issued accordingly, in line with the provisions of the Sindh Local Government Act 2013 and the amended taxation regulations. The assessment will also consider the availability of manpower and the nature of banquet halls, clubs, and ballrooms.
Under the new policy, wedding venues located in Districts West, Central, and East will be taxed based on guest capacity. Halls accommodating more than 500 guests will be charged Rs30,000. Those hosting up to 500 guests will be taxed Rs20,000, while venues for 300 and 150 guests will be subject to Rs10,000 and Rs5,000, respectively.
In Korangi and Malir districts, the tax structure varies slightly. Wedding halls hosting over 500 guests will be liable to pay Rs25,000. A tax of Rs15,000 will apply to those accommodating 500 guests, Rs7,500 for 300 guests, and Rs5,000 for venues catering to 150 guests.
