Child dies, 4 critical after family consumes sweet dish in Rajanpur

UMERKOT/RAJANPUR: A child has died and four other people remain in critical condition after members of the same family reportedly fell ill following the consumption of a sweet dish in the Umerkot area of Rajanpur.

According to rescue sources, 37 members of the family were taken ill after eating the dessert. Thirty of the victims were shifted to the district hospital, while seven others were moved to THQ Rojhan for treatment.

The affected group included women and children. Police said the family stated that everyone became unwell after eating the sweet dish, described locally as “sweet needles.”

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
