ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has maintained that the government was ready for a dialogue with serious-minded leadership of Opposition and the forum would be Parliament.
“However, both Mariyam Nawaz and Maulana Fazalur Rehman who are not part of the parliament would be excluded,” he said, while addressing a press conference along with Fawad Hussain and Faisal Vawda in Islamabad.
Shibli Faraz further informed that the government has also given the agenda of the dialogue which would be reformed in the electoral system. However, he said, the opposition’s campaign was aimed at creating chaos in the country to protect their looted money.
“Those who desire to topple an elected government can never be in favour of democracy,” he said, adding that the opposition believed that if they won, the elections were free and fair but if someone else won, elections were rigged.
Referring to yesterday’s public gathering of PDM, the information minister said that no single word was uttered in the praise of the soldiers who got martyred in Balochistan. “It was unfortunate that those who were facilitators in killing of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and tortured Shaheed Benazir Bhutto were sitting on stage with PPP leadership,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda said that frustration of PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz is just to get power. “The opposition is talking about rigging in general elections after two and a half year, but they have not filed any petition at any forum,” he added.
Chaudhry, the science minister, noted that the PDM’s platform was being used against the Centre, Punjab, and public institutions. The government would only hold talks with senior and mature Opposition leaders, he added.
