CCTV footage of a suicide bombing carried out during a wedding ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan has surfaced.
According to investigators, the attacker was identified as 21-year-old Abdul Rehman, described as an Afghan-origin militant.
The footage shows the suicide bomber entering the wedding venue wrapped in a white shawl. He initially remained among the guests during a traditional tribal dance before suddenly moving towards a room at the back of the venue where several prominent guests were present.
Moments after entering the room, the attacker detonated the explosive device, causing the roof to collapse. The blast killed the bomber and at least five other people.
The attack took place during the wedding ceremony of the nephew of Peace Committee head Noor Alam Mehsud.
Security analysts say that due to effective intelligence-based operations by Pakistan’s security forces, terrorist groups have largely lost the ability to confront law enforcement agencies directly.
Experts further stated that militant networks operating with the backing of the Afghan Taliban regime remain active, and that groups such as Fitna al-Khawarij are carrying out suicide attacks under organised patronage from across the border to spread fear and instability in the region.
They stressed that decisive action against such elements has become inevitable.
