A case has been registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) following the viral circulation of a compromising video of transgender individual Dolphin Ayan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Hashtnagri police station based on Ayan’s complaint.
According to Ayan, she was abducted at gunpoint in Shabqadar in 2023 by Imran and six accomplices, who took her to a room, filmed a compromising video, and used it to blackmail her. On October 29, Ayan discovered the video had gone viral on social media, and she reported continued harassment from the accused.
The video reportedly shows a person holding Ayan at gunpoint, forcing her to undress while being filmed.
In response to the video’s spread, there have been increasing calls for government and police protection for transgender individuals and accountability for those involved in this act of cyber harassment.
Ayan alleges that the video’s release has deeply harmed her reputation and her family’s honor. Police are actively seeking the arrest of Imran and his accomplices.
