Security for Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh has been significantly bolstered following reports of an extortion threat allegedly sent by the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The threat, which surfaced via a WhatsApp voice note, has sent shockwaves through the industry, marking a tense period for Mumbai’s high-profile celebrities.
According to Indian media outlets, Ranveer Singh received a menacing voice note on WhatsApp demanding a staggering sum, reported to be in the millions (crores).
The sender explicitly claimed to be an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the same group that has previously targeted Salman Khan and other major figures.
Upon receiving the message, the Dhurandhar actor immediately notified the Mumbai Police.
In response, additional police personnel and private security guards have been deployed outside his Central Mumbai residence.
Technical teams are currently working to trace the digital footprint of the voice note to identify its origin.
This threat comes just days after a terrifying incident outside the Juhu residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty on February 8, 2026.
At least five rounds were fired at Shetty’s nine-story building late at night. One bullet shattered the glass of a gym located on the first floor.
The Bishnoi gang reportedly took responsibility for the firing via social media, calling it a “small trailer” and warning the director not to “interfere in their work.”
Investigators are now exploring potential links between the threat to Ranveer Singh and the attack on Rohit Shetty’s home to determine if both are part of a broader extortion campaign against Bollywood’s elite.
