After the vibrant celebrations of Basant in Lahore, the festival is now set to reach Quetta, as the Balochistan capital prepares to host a three-day Basant festival from February 13 to 15 (Friday to Sunday).

The official announcement has sparked excitement among residents, with a wave of enthusiasm sweeping across the city.

Preparations are in full swing, and markets are bustling with activity. Shops are stocked with colorful kites, strings, yellow outfits, and other traditional Basant items.

Major commercial areas including Gard Singh Road, Prince Road, Alamdar Road, Kasi Road, Sariab Road, Jaan Muhammad Road, Sabzal Road, Nawa Killi, Brewery Road, Jail Road, Liaquat Bazaar, and surrounding neighborhoods are witnessing heavy footfall as citizens shop for newly designed kites and festival accessories.

The skies over Quetta are expected to soon be filled with vibrant kites, while various neighborhoods are organizing cultural programs, music performances, and traditional festivities to mark the occasion.

Residents said that the festival will help address the lack of recreational opportunities in the city.

Speaking to the media, local resident Misbah Advocate said that in a city like Quetta, where daily life presents numerous challenges, a festival like Basant would not only bring joy but also promote social harmony and a positive image of the city.

According to organizers, events will be held in multiple areas of the city, featuring kite flying competitions, performances by local artists, traditional food stalls, and family-friendly entertainment.

The festival is being seen as the beginning of a new cultural chapter for Quetta, offering residents a brief escape from daily stresses and an opportunity to celebrate together.

It is worth noting that after Lahore, Quetta is the second major city where Basant is being revived.

The citizens have been urged to celebrate the festival peacefully and follow safety precautions to ensure the festivities remain free of any untoward incidents.
