In a swift and decisive operation on Monday, security forces killed at least 10 militants in Bara after they briefly seized a government school in the Akkakhel area.
Officials said the group, referred to by authorities as “Khawarij” and linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), had hoisted their flag on the school premises before being confronted. Within hours, forces not only reclaimed the building but eliminated all attackers.
According to reports, the militants attempted to flee shortly after the siezure but were intercepted in time. Their movements over recent days in different parts of Bara had already raised alarm among residents.
Locals reported that members of TTP and Lashkar-i-Islam had been active since the last week of Ramadan, conducting snap vehicle checks and even setting up a temporary checkpoint in Bara Bazaar’s Al-Haj market. They also reportedly tried to gain public support and shared videos online.
The operation followed a warning by Frontier Corps leadership that no negotiations with militants would take place.
