The Punjab Home Department has taken a decisive step to maintain order and ensure public safety during the upcoming Eidul Azha festivities. To streamline the sale of sacrificial animals and prevent chaos on the streets of Lahore, Section 144 has been imposed, effectively prohibiting the sale of such animals outside of the designated cattle markets.
Effective immediately, the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals are strictly prohibited on the roads and streets of Lahore, except the eight allotted cattle markets. This measure is in place until June 20, coinciding with the preparations for Eidul Azha.
The implementation of Section 144 is aimed at safeguarding public order and facilitating the smooth flow of traffic in the provincial capital. The decision came at the request of the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order during this busy period.
To accommodate the needs of the community while adhering to the ban, designated cattle markets have been established at strategic locations across Lahore. These markets, located at Shahpur Kanjra, LDA City Defence Road, Burki Road Paragon, Saggian Road, Sports Complex Addarakh, NFC Multan Road, Raiwind Sundar Road, and New King Lane, have been exempted from Section 144, allowing for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals within their premises.
