QUETTA: The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) has warned of stormy conditions in Balochistan causing high tidal waves in the coastal belt.
According to a statement released today (Saturday), typhoons have been reported in coastal areas of Balochistan, including Gwadar, following which fishermen have been instructed to remain cautious.
Fisheries department of Balochistan, following the rough weather alert, has warned fishermen of Gwadar and Pasni against venturing into the deep sea from Saturday (today) to Monday.
According to the directives, strong winds are likely in the coastal areas of Balochistan from today till Monday due to the high tide. “Fishermen in Gwadar and Pasni should avoid the deep sea and take precautionary measures to avert any mishaps,” Balochistan fisheries assistant director said.
Met office had earlier predicted gusty winds in Balochistan’s Makran coastal belt and surrounding areas. Windy weather would also prevail in Karachi, the PMD had said in its weather forecast.
According to the weather report, the wind speed has been measured at 18 to 20 kilometers per hour currently, which could enhance to 35 to 40 kilometers per hour. The visibility range has also restricted to two to three kilometers in Karachi due to dusty winds.
