KARACHI: The district police today (Saturday) arrested a man, accused of vandalising a makeshift Hindu temple in Kario Ghanwar of Badin district.
The area is densely populated with members of the Kohli community who own small houses there. The community had also built a temple where a number of religious statues were kept.
According to details, the police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the arrested suspect, Muhammad Ismail on behalf of complainant Ashok Kumar.
Ashok Kumar told police that Ismail vandalised a temple in his village, Samo Goth. Kumar said Ismail damaged the idols kept in the temple and fled.
In this regard, Badin SSP Shabbir Ahmed took notice and instructed the local SHO to investigate the matter and arrest the suspect. The SHO, sub-inspector and other police officers visited the temple, collected evidence and arrested the suspect.
However, a police spokesperson said, “We have yet to confirm if he Ismail is mentally stable and deliberately destroyed the statues.” Meanwhile, Badin SSP has sought an inquiry report on the matter from relevant police within 24 hours.
