Punjab’s Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bukhari has strongly criticised what she described as propaganda circulating on social media regarding Maryam Nawaz and her family.
Bukhari said certain elements have become so consumed by hostility towards Maryam Nawaz that they continue to fabricate lies and spread baseless stories.
She stated that false propaganda was first circulated about the chief minister’s alleged departure abroad, and now fabricated reports are being spread about her family.
Bukhari added that if the same effort and energy were devoted to the welfare of the public instead of spreading misinformation, people might take such individuals more seriously.
The minister further said that opponents may continue to spread falsehoods, but Maryam Nawaz will keep introducing new initiatives for public welfare and will continue to earn the trust of the people through her performance. She added that attempts to play the victimhood, innocence or political victimisation card would no longer succeed.
Bukhari concluded by saying that the public can clearly distinguish between truth and falsehood, and those spreading lies will ultimately be exposed, as propaganda politics cannot last for long and the truth eventually comes to light.
