RAWALPINDI: Opener Awais Zia’s unbeaten half-century helped Balochistan to an impressive six-wicket victory against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in National T20 Cup at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a 155-run target, Balochistan lost opener Abdul Wahid, who was bowled by fast-bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, without troubling the scorers.
The left-hander also put on an 88-run partnership with Akbar-ur-Reham (24 off 22) for the fifth wicket. Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up two wickets for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Mohammad Rizwan’s side, being sent to bat first, made 154-6 on the back of a half-century by veteran Shoaib Malik. The right-handed batsman played a 74-run knock which lasted 44 balls and included eight boundaries and two sixes.
The veteran all-rounder became Pakistan’s first and third batsman in the world to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. Pacer Akif Javed returned with figures of 2-20 in four overs.
