Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called for a transparent investigation into the killing of an Australian-origin child in Chakwal.

In his statement, Prime Minister Albanese urged the Pakistani government to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident, expressing hope that a transparent investigation would bring the facts to light.

According to the affected family, the incident took place near Khumaini Chowk in front of a CCD police station, where an Australian-returned family was first robbed by armed men.

During the incident, a CCD officer who came out of the station reportedly opened fire on the vehicle, mistaking the robbers, as the situation unfolded.

As a result, nine-year-old Hania Ahmed died on the spot, while her father Adeel Ahmed and brother Aifan sustained injuries.

Authorities have suspended and arrested the officer involved, and the official weapon used in the firing has been recovered.

Murder charges have also been added to the case, and further investigations are ongoing. The court has sent the accused to jail on judicial remand.
