PESHAWAR: A shocking incident of violence against a female legal practitioner has sparked outrage after CCTV footage surfaced showing an attack within the high-security premises of the Peshawar Judicial Complex.
The victim, identified as advocate Madiha Pervez, was brutally assaulted by an opposing litigant following a courtroom dispute.
The incident transpired on June 23 during the hearing of a civil lawsuit. According to court sources and the victim’s statement, Ms. Pervez had submitted a review petition on behalf of her client.

The opposing party, identified as Abdul Sadiq, reportedly became aggressive and began abusing the court during the proceedings. In response to his disruptive behavior, the presiding judge ordered Sadiq to be removed from the courtroom premises.
However, the confrontation escalated outside. “When I left the courtroom a short while later, the accused was waiting. He attacked me, subjected me to torture, and physically threw me to the ground, causing injuries,” Ms. Pervez stated.
The entire assault was captured on the Judicial Complex’s CCTV cameras, providing undeniable photographic evidence of the security breach and physical violence.
Following the incident, the Peshawar Police initiated a formal inquiry under the supervision of the District Public Prosecutor. Upon verification of the facts and the available video evidence, a case was officially registered against Abdul Sadiq.
The police have formally booked the accused, Abdul Sadiq, under relevant sections of the law for assault and criminal force against a woman. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to ensure swift justice.
The local legal community has strongly condemned the attack, raising serious concerns over the safety of lawyers—particularly female practitioners—within judicial premises.
