In a message to the nation on the occasion of Ashura, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari said that this day is not only an unparalleled story of sacrifice, loyalty, and patience, but also a shining lamp that shows the path of truth and righteousness in the darkness of every era.
Asif Ali Zardari stated that the martyrdom of the exalted Imam was not the result of any political or temporary expediency, but rather a divine mission based on truthfulness, justice, and the pleasure of God. He said that on the land of Karbala, not merely a war was fought, but it was a test of conscience, character, and the true spirit of religion.
He stated that Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) and his devoted followers accepted the severity of hunger, thirst, and death, giving humanity a lesson that time can never forget. Their message is still alive today, and it is a great message of standing firm on principles, of not bowing before tyranny and oppression, and of making every sacrifice for the sake of truth.
