KARACHI: Another proposal video from a Pakistani university has gone viral on social media in which a couple can be seen doing the same things like the University of Lahore’s students did earlier this week.
In the video, a boy went down on one knee and proposed to his university fellow. The video clip demonstrates the boy presenting a bunch of roses to his classmate. As she accepts it, the two bends into a hug while a crowd of students surrounds the couple and cheers them on, seeming similar to a pretty movie-like scene.
Earlier this week, the University of Lahore (UoL) had expelled two students over a video that circulated on social media showing a public display of affection.
In the video, the two students are seen proposing with flowers. A female student was seen going on her knee and proposing to a male student. They then publicly display their affection for each other. The incident reportedly happened on Valentine’s Day on the premises of the university.
The University administration acted and expelled the two students, Hadiqa Javaid and Shehryar Ahmed. The expulsion notice issued by the administration cites the rules and regulations of the institution and claims that the two students failed to appear before a Special Disciplinary Committee.
Consequently, a meeting of the special disciplinary committee in the Office of the Rector chaired by the Chairman Board of Governors found them “involved in gross misconduct and violation of university rules.”
It said that students were expelled for “violating university’s rule and regulation and serious infraction of the code of conduct.” There have been mixed social media reactions with the University of Lahore trending on Twitter.
Some users have claimed that action was necessary from the university’s administration as the students were violating local norms. Others have argued that the university has acted in excess and that the students did not deserve such action.
