In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old girl lost her life after being mauled by a pack of stray dogs in Dadu, Sindh, on Monday.
The victim, identified as Maheen Brahmani, was playing outside her house in Vahi village when the stray dogs attacked her. Further details surrounding the incident are still awaited.
This unfortunate event adds to a concerning trend in Sindh, where several children have lost their lives or sustained serious injuries in stray dog attacks, including in the provincial capital city of Karachi.
Dr. Irfan Siddiqui, in charge of Jinnah Hospital’s Emergency Ward, expressed grave concern over the escalating issue, stating that stray dogs have become a major problem for citizens. He revealed that the hospital receives more than 40 dog bite cases daily, with children being the most affected demographic.
Assuring the availability of vaccines, Dr. Siddiqui emphasized the importance of prompt medical attention for dog bite victims. He advised citizens to thoroughly wash the wound with soap and seek immediate medical assistance at the nearest hospital for vaccination.
Additionally, Dr. Siddiqui mentioned that children brought to Jinnah Hospital were subsequently transferred to the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) for further treatment.
