There are many institutions in the country which are busy in welfare work in different fields and fulfill the needs of any poor populated area in different fields including health and education.
One such enviable institution in the field of education is the Khadija Qazi Ali Memorial High School located in Surjani Town area of Karachi, where besides having excellent academic standards, fees are charged to deserving students according to their status, while the entire school is being run on solar system.
MM News visited this institution and tried to know how a quality educational institution is running successfully with nominal fee.
The female principal of the institution while talking to MM News said that this institution was started a few years ago with the idea that middle-class families who cannot provide quality education to their children will be provided quality education by charging reasonable fee as per their income.
The principal said that Khadija Qazi Ali Memorial School has classes up to 11th this year. “We started the school from class two and three and every year added one more class,” she added.
According to the principal, the vision of the school is “be change to bring change” and the mission is to provide quality education to poor and deserving people in a quality environment at very reasonable fees.
In response to a question, she said that their method is that they do not have zero fees at all, they only ask those who bring their children here to pay as much as they can easily according to their income. She said that seventy percent of the children in the school are paying less than Rs.400 fee per month.
One thousand and seventy girls and boys are studying in the school, for whom the facility of excellent computer and science labs is also available. The school is built on high-quality infrastructure and has a solar system for electricity.
The principal said that at the time of admission they ask the guardians of the children about their source of income, which is done by filling in a form, which gives them an idea of how much fee a person can easily pay.
She said that along with education, various activities are also done for the practical training of children and to develop different abilities in them. Children also participate in competitions in various institutions of the city and come back with excellent results.
The school also has separate libraries according to the level of children where children study under the supervision of teachers. Apart from this, there is a playing area within the extensive school premises where children participate in co-curricular activities.
The slogan of this exemplary school is ‘Education for All’, which this institution is following with full enthusiasm. Such educational institutions certainly deserve to be supported and promoted as much as possible.
