Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha has debuted on Netflix.
The movie has been added to Netflix after merely two months of its theatrical release which was on 11th August. Prior to this, Aamir Khan had said that the movie would be made available on a streaming platform only six months after the theatrical release. However, the movie just debuted on Netflix.
Directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of the Hollywood film, Forrest Gump, which featured Tom Hanks. Besides Khan and Kapoor, the Hindi adaptation features Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in crucial roles.
Even before its release, Laal Singh Chaddha had made headlines due to multiple controversies as many social media users called for a boycott of the film over statements made by Aamir and Kareena in the past.
The movie was a flop at the box office and collected around Rs 60 crore in its lifetime run. The movie’s failure has largely been attributed to two causes–the content that the audience did not like, and a strong movement calling for the film’s boycott. The experts believed that it was the film’s quality that was its undoing and not the boycott movement.
