ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan suggested holding a referendum on public executions today (Monday).
Speaking on the floor of National Assembly, Ali Muhammad Khan said that the bill that was passed for Public hanging was a correct decision.
He suggested, “If the opposition has any objection on the bill of Public Hanging, a referendum should be held on the issue.”
He further said that the votes would decide whether the people support public execution or not.
At the occasion, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Syed Naved Qamar, criticized the resolution and said that it was passed without forethought.
The resolution presented in National Assembly which seeks public hanging for child abusers has started a debate whether the death penalty is the only solution to bring closure to such felonies in society.
