A week-long winter festival at Ganga Choti, Bagh, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is underway and attracting score of people and the athletes. The festival is a celebration of winter and included a range of activities and events for visitors of all ages.
Participants enjoyed winter sports, including snowboarding, skiing and ice skating, as well as local traditional winter games.
One of the visitor said he is enjoying Ganga Choti and this is third time he is visiting the festival which is a good experience and atmosphere here refreshes him.
A woman said, she enjoying watching the athletes and wishes she should have participated in one the sports. The female visitor further said the beauty of the area is unbelievable and snow-covered peaks give an impression that we are in somewhere Europe, not in AJK.
Another visitor said she had visited almost all the northern areas but Kashmir is something different and the festival being conducted here is an international level festival.
An athlete lauded the arrangements made by the administration to make the festival successful and said many organisations cooperated with them for the festival.
A skier said, “The skiing track is good but it needs time to attract global players,” adding that work needs to be done to make the area ideal for skiing.
