Pakistan Day is being celebrated across the country today with great patriotic fervor. The day began with a gun salute in the federal capital, while a solemn ceremony of the changing of the guards was also held at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal, the Poet of the East.
The Pakistan Day parade is taking place at Aiwan-e-Sadr (President’s House), with President Asif Ali Zardari as the chief guest. Foreign ambassadors, senior civil and military officials are also attending the parade.
President Asif Ali Zardari arrived at the parade ceremony in a traditional chariot and shook hands with members of the reception committee. Pakistan Air Force aircraft also performed a march-past during the Pakistan Day parade.
Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended their greetings to the nation on Pakistan Day, stating that the brave armed forces are making great sacrifices in defending the motherland.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that in one year, Pakistan’s economy has been set on the path of sustainable growth. He emphasized that with national unity, economic prosperity can be achieved and paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s protection.
