The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has restored Parachinar Airport in Kurram District after it remained inactive for a prolonged period, marking a key step toward reviving air connectivity in the region.
Extensive renovation and repair work has been completed to make the facility operational again. On April 26, Pakistan Army Aviation carried out a series of trials to evaluate construction quality, runway performance, and overall operational readiness.
During the exercise, six successful takeoffs and landings were conducted, after which the runway was declared compliant with required professional and safety standards.
The trials also assessed the airport’s performance under different operational conditions to ensure reliability.
Following these successful tests, Parachinar Airport is expected to see improved operational capacity, which will boost regional connectivity, strengthen emergency response capabilities, and support local economic activity.
Earlier, officials from the PAA and Pakistan International Airlines had visited the airport to evaluate its feasibility for commercial operations and humanitarian flights.
