‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ hits 25.5% peak as episode 7 breaks records

Agent Kim Reactivated has surged to another major ratings milestone, delivering a high-water mark for the series as its plot barrels toward a decisive turning point. After building momentum across its weekly broadcasts, the drama hit a new peak with Episode 7 on July 17, posting a nationwide rating of 25.5 percent alongside 22.6 percent in the Seoul metropolitan area.

The latest performance was notable not only for its sheer numbers, but also for what it represents in the schedule.

Fridays typically lag behind Saturdays for many Korean dramas, yet Episode 7 set a new all-time Friday record for the program, reaching an impressive 21.9 percent nationwide. With that, the series stretched its dominance across multiple weeks, maintaining top performance in its time slot for three consecutive weeks before ending on a shock that reframes the stakes for “Manager Kim” and everyone around him.

Episode 7 delivered a blend of escalating action, tightly wound emotion, and a cliffhanger that left viewers absorbing the impact well after the broadcast.

As Manager Kim, portrayed by So Ji-sub, orchestrated a rescue for his daughter, the episode also pressed its investigation storyline forward by drawing Ju Kang Chan into a confrontation described as a step toward “justice.”

In the middle of the drama’s most personal moments, the episode reportedly landed a deeply affecting line, “Happy birthday, my daughter. I love you,” capturing the kind of heartfelt payoff that has become central to the series’ appeal.

Then the show pivoted abruptly from reunion to dread.

The final minutes revealed Manager Kim waking in a North Korean torture chamber after hearing the unsettling words, “Welcome back home, 66,” a revelation that immediately suggested the operation’s consequences are far more complex and far more dangerous than viewers had anticipated. That twist has been widely framed as the drama’s biggest turning point so far, shifting the narrative from near-term survival and rescue to a far broader crisis with serious implications.

Beyond the storyline, “Agent Kim Reactivated” continues to stand out as one of the most consistently watched dramas of its day, sustaining its position as South Korea’s most-watched program on Friday.

Viewers have also been quick to react online, pointing to Episode 7’s father-and-daughter reunion as a centerpiece of the emotional trajectory, while calling the scenes involving bringing Joo Kang-chan to justice among the most talked-about sequences in the series.

With Episode 7 setting a new standard for momentum and intensity, the drama now appears positioned to deliver its most consequential missions yet as Kim Do-hyeon edges closer to exposing the conspiracy behind his daughter’s disappearance.

For audiences already captivated by its combination of high-stakes action and deeply human stakes, the North Korean cliffhanger signals that “Manager Kim” is no longer simply responding to events, but being pulled into the center of the crisis itself.
