Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, has strongly rejected allegations of ISIS recruitment in the country, stating that Afghanistan is the center for ISIS recruitment and facilitation.
According to details, while addressing the Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram called on the Security Council to take notice of the threats posed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Majeed Brigade, and ISIS. He stated that more than two dozen terrorist groups are active in neighboring Afghanistan.
During his speech, Munir Akram expressed concern, saying that Afghanistan serves as a hub for ISIS recruitment and facilitation. He pointed out that discussions about the threat of ISIS are widespread, yet the dangers posed to Pakistan by TTP and the Majeed Brigade are not being acknowledged.
Munir Akram emphasized that Pakistan has paid a heavy price in the war against terrorism. He demanded global action against the terrorism of TTP and the Majeed Brigade. It is noteworthy that Pakistan has lost thousands of lives in the U.S.-led war on terror.
In the past, the federal government has repeatedly stated that thousands of Pakistanis were martyred in the war on terror initiated by the U.S. Even today, in various cities across the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, Pakistan Army soldiers continue to be martyred daily in operations against terrorism.
