Tragedy struck in Nowshera on Monday as a local Pashto actress, Khushboo, fell victim to a fatal shooting incident. Police reports indicate that she was deliberately targeted within the jurisdiction of Akbarpura Police Station.
Her brother, Shehryar, revealed to authorities that Khushboo had been repeatedly warned by the accused to refrain from participating in music concerts. Despite these threats, she refused to yield. Tragically, her defiance allegedly led to her being shot, with her lifeless body left abandoned in nearby fields. The police promptly transferred her remains to a hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination.
In response to Shehryar’s complaint, a murder case has been filed against two suspects, prompting law enforcement to launch intensive raids to capture those responsible for this abhorrent crime.
This appalling incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers faced by individuals within the entertainment industry in the region. Regrettably, this is not an isolated occurrence; in 2018, another Pashto singer and stage actress, Resham Khan, met a similar fate, purportedly at the hands of her own husband, within the precincts of Nowshera Kalan police station.
According to authorities, Resham’s family identified her husband, Fayda Khan, as the prime suspect, initiating legal proceedings by lodging a First Information Report (FIR). The FIR was filed by Resham’s brother, Obaidullah, who hails from Charsadda but currently resides in Hakimabad.
