KARACHI: In a shocking incident, a woman was severely burned after a suspected acid attack in Liaquatabad area of Karachi.
Police said the woman suffered serious burn wounds after being attacked by acid. The officials said that the suspect hurled acid on the woman at her home.
The woman was shifted to the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital in critical condition where she remained under treatment. She is aged around 50 and is a mother-of-three.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the motive behind the incident. Police said a burqa-clad person threw acid on the woman and fled.
Police said that initial reports suggest there was a property dispute but it cannot be confirmed. Police said the victim’s statement is a being recorded and further investigation has started. Police later claimed that three suspects have been arrested after being identified by the woman’s family.
The victim’s daughter stated that their neighbour Faisal threw acid on her mother. She said her mother was lying in her house when Faisal came inside, opened the lid of a bottle and threw acid on her face. She said her mother started screaming in pain after the acid was hurled.
The woman’s husband Anwar said he was not present when the incident happened. He said that his family informed that Faisal entered the house and threw something on his wife’s face. A few days ago, the accused Faisal’s wife said that my wife has pride on her face, he said.
