In Jhang, a man killed his maternal uncle’s daughter by poisoning her after a marriage proposal was refused. The 18-year-old, Kanza, was a first-year college student, as reported by national media on Sunday.
Why did the uncle refuse the marriage proposal? The nephew ended up killing his own cousin. The accused abducted 18-year-old Kanza from within the jurisdiction of Satellite Police Station under a pretense and killed her by giving her a poisoned substance.
According to Additional SP Abid Zafar, the deceased was a student at Islamabad Agriculture University. After her semester ended, she was returning home when she was abducted and murdered along the way.
Police have registered a case and arrested the suspect. During interrogation, the suspect revealed that he had asked for the girl’s hand in marriage, but her parents refused, which enraged him and led him to murder her.
It is worth noting that in recent years, there has been an increase in incidents of girls being killed due to rejected marriage proposals, which is attributed to growing intolerance and selfishness in society.
On the other hand, sociologists believe that nowadays, even close relatives do not communicate with each other, and no effort is made to understand what dangerous plans someone might be harboring in their mind. As a result, such evils come to light only after they occur.
