Karachi’s markets and business centre remained closed on Saturday on Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s strike call against tax regulation and FBR’s powers in the Recent Finance Bill 2025-26.
Karachi’s various markets including Lighthouse, Saddar, The Mall, Bolton Market, Jamia Cloth, Medicine Market, Allahwali Market, Zainab Market, Cooperative Market, Judia Bazaar, Le Market and Rancho Line Shops were completely closed by the traders and business community. Fruit and vegetable markers also remained shut on strike call.
On the occasion, traders and businesses demanded that undue powers of FBR officers should be curbed and their demands should be met in written form.
The industrial zones also observed strike as production remained suspended in all industrial zones of the city including Korangi, Site, New Karachi, FB Area. Industrialists and the business community jointly demanded from the government that the strike period can be extended if their written demands were not met.
Yesterday, differences emerged among traders over strike call as FPCCI announced that there will be no strike on Saturday, while the Karachi and Lahore Chambers of commerce and industries maintained their strike call on which the traders, while expressing their solidarity, closed their businesses.
