Five Indian sponsored terrorists were killed in a joint operation carried out by the police and Tal Scouts in the Doaba area of Hangu district on Saturday.
The early morning operation was launched following intelligence reports about the presence of Fitna Al Hindustan’s terrorists in the Zargiri, Shinaori, and surrounding areas. Security forces moved in to target suspected hideouts.
During the exchange of gunfire, District Police Officer Khalid Khan and Doaba Station House Officer Nabi Khan sustained injuries. They were quickly shifted to a local hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Amjad Khan, the security forces were fired upon as they approached the area. He confirmed that five militants, referred to by authorities as “Khawarjis,” were killed during the operation.
A search and clearance operation is currently underway to ensure the area is secure. Additional security forces have been deployed to prevent any further incidents or retaliation.
Police believe the militants killed in the operation were involved in recent acts of violence, amid rising concerns over renewed TTP activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
