During an expedition on K2, the world’s second-highest peak, Pakistani mountaineer Iftikhar Hussain lost his life after being struck by an avalanche.
According to Shigar Deputy Commissioner Arif Hussain, four mountaineers were caught in the avalanche during the K2 expedition. Among them, three foreign climbers were rescued safely.
Deputy Commissioner Arif Hussain stated that all three foreign climbers sustained minor injuries and have been moved to a hospital.
On the other hand, one Pakistani mountaineer lost his life in the avalanche. He has been identified as Muhammad Iftikhar Hussain. His body will be transported to Skardu today.
Deputy Commissioner Arif Hussain added that the mountaineer Muhammad Iftikhar belonged to the village of Sadpara, where he will be laid to rest today.
It is worth noting that K2 is considered one of the most dangerous peaks in the world. Many mountaineers have previously lost their lives during expeditions due to the difficult ascent and harsh weather conditions.
