ISLAMABAD: Cement prices in Pakistan saw a slight decline, boosting the northern construction sector.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported a slight decline in retail prices of cement in the country during the week ending May 22.
The average price of cement per bag in northern cities decreased by 0.37 percent to Rs1,413 compared to the previous week.
In contrast, prices remained stable in southern cities, with the average retail price remaining stable at Rs1,428 per bag.

Cement prices in Islamabad were Rs1,402, Rawalpindi Rs1,386, Gujranwala Rs1,449, Sialkot Rs1,420, Lahore Rs1,464, Faisalabad Rs1,400, Sargodha Rs1,398, Multan Rs1,416, Bahawalpur Rs1,450, Peshawar Rs1,450 and Bannu Rs1,450.
Meanwhile, in the southern region, Karachi recorded a price of 1360 per sack, Hyderabad 1399, Sukkur 1500, Larkana 1416, Quetta 1450, and Khuzdar 1443 per sack.
The slight decline in the north may provide some relief to construction projects currently under construction, although the stability in the southern regions indicates steady demand.
