Severe tremors of an earthquake have been felt in Türkiye, with a recorded magnitude of 6.2. Tremors were also felt in several European countries, including Ukraine, Greece, Romania, and Bulgaria, as reported by international media.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake in Türkiye had a magnitude of 6.2, and its epicenter was located 21 kilometers southeast of the city of Marmara Ereğlisi, at a depth of 10 kilometers underground.
The tremors of the earthquake were so intense that people, frightened, rushed out of their homes and buildings. Some reports claim that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 12 kilometers, which is why its effects were felt with greater intensity.
Istanbul was shaken three times within 40 minutes. Tremors were also felt in Ukraine, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and other countries, according to data from Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency.
So far, no reports of any loss of life or property have been received; however, the local administration has issued an alert and instructed the rescue teams to remain prepared.
