A powerful earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted Islamabad, Peshawar and others parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
Tremors were felt in several cities, including Rawalpindi, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swat, and surrounding areas.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located in southeastern Afghanistan at a depth of 22 kilometers.
Following the tremors, residents in the affected areas rushed out of their homes in panic. So far, no casualties or property damage have been reported.
On Monday, an earthquake of 6.0 hit Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree and several districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) – including Peshawar, Mansehra and Abbottabad. according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
It should be noted that a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Afghanistan’s mountainous eastern border region on Tuesday, killing 1,400 people on Tuesday with thousands more injured.
The quake struck at a shallow depth of 8km (5 miles), making it more destructive. Worst-hit are the Nangarhar and Kunar provinces, but shakes were felt in neighbouring provinces, as well as in Kabul.
