RAHIMYAR KHAN: Four women lost their lives and 35 others were injured when the roof of a shop collapsed in Chak 125, Rahim Yar Khan, as women gathered to collect their Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) installments.
According to reports gathered by MM News from local sources, all victims were fasting at the time, and the incident occurred due to overcrowding in a structurally weak building where payment devices were placed on the roof.
Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa and DPO Irfan Samo rushed to Sheikh Zayed Hospital, where an emergency was declared and medical staff were mobilized. Dr. Saleem Leghari, Principal of Sheikh Medical College, also joined the response team.
Authorities fear the death toll may rise as rescue and medical efforts continue. Investigations are underway into the unsafe setup and building conditions.
