QUETTA: A devastating earthquake struck the city of Chaman, bordering Afghanistan Thursday night, claiming the lives of at least three children and injuring five members of the same family.
According to reports gathered by MM News, the quake caused two mud-walled houses to collapse in Chaman, according to Babar Yousafzai, Spokesman to the Chief Minister Balochistan. While the first house did not result in any human loss, the second house collapsed, leading to the tragic deaths of three young children.
The earthquake’s centre was about 50 kilometers to the northwest of Quetta, with its magnitude value of 3.6.
Responding to the emergency, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo directed the staff of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to provide immediate assistance to the affected people. Yousafzai stated that the PDMA is working to reach the spot and provide necessary aid and support to those impacted by the earthquake.
MM News has also learnt that the quake also jolted Qila Abdullah and Pashin areas of Balochistan.
The earthquake has left the local community in shock and mourning, with many residents forced to leave their homes and seek refuge elsewhere throughout last night.
The provincial government has pledged to provide all necessary resources to help those affected by the earthquake recover and rebuild their lives.
