ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported one death in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,532,732.
The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 30,385 on Thursday.
According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 268 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours.
Pakistan has conducted 12,513 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 268 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 2.14 percent.

During last few days, Pakistan is reporting a spike in the Covid cases.
The BA.5 Omicron variant of Covid-19 has entered Pakistan and many cases have been reported from Karachi and Hyderabad, the Sindh Health Department announced on Sunday. The BA.5 Omicron variant was first identified in South Africa in November. Meanwhile, the positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in Islamabad has also surged to 4.10%.
