20-year-old sepoy martyred in South Waziristan operation: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: A 20-year-old sepoy was martyred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) by security forces in the Senai Narai area of South Waziristan district today (Sunday).

According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted on reported presence of terrorists. “During intense exchange of fire with terrorists, Sepoy Junaid, resident of Balakot, District Mansehra embraced martyrdom,” it added.

The military’s media wing said that a cordon and search operation is in progress in the area to eliminate any terrorists present.

Earlier on July 15, two Pakistan Army troops were martyred in a terrorist attack in Khuda Baksh Bazaar near the coastal town of Pasni in Balochistan, the military’s media affairs wing said.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (​ISPR) said that terrorists targeted security forces using an improvised explosive device (​IED). An officer, Captain Affan Masood, and Sepoy Babar Zaman were martyred in the attack, the statement said.

On July 14, two security personnel, including an officer, embraced martyrdom while three others received injuries during clashes with militants in Zewa area of Kurram tribal district, officials said on Tuesday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that three militants were killed during an operation conducted in the area after receiving information about their presence there.
