Saudi Arabia has welcomed the oldest woman who will perform Hajj this year.
Sarahouda Stiti, a 130-year-old woman from Algeria, has been recognized as this year’s oldest Hajj pilgrim. Despite her advanced age, Stiti was determined to join the pilgrimage, bringing pride and happiness to the Algerian Hajj mission and the Algerian community as a whole.
She was in good health but was regularly monitored. Expressing her joy about being in the Kingdom for Hajj, Stiti appreciated the warm welcome and excellent service she and her companions received.
Saudi officials report that more than 1.5 million foreign pilgrims have arrived in the country by Tuesday, the vast majority by air, from across the world. More are expected, and hundreds of thousands of Saudis and residents of Saudi Arabia will join them when the pilgrimage officially begins on Friday.
