The government has further tightened the noose around those uploading content against the state institutions on social media as 13 more people, who allegedly indulged in the activity, were booked on Saturday.
Sources said that those against whom cases were registered were Saleem Akhtar, Salman Nasir, Sajid Hussain, Muhammad Khalid Khurshid, Asim Ayub, Babar Zafar, Sher Azeem Khan, Mubeen Shah, Ali Haider, Nadir Hussain, Chaudhry Zulfiqar, Jamil Mirza and Muhammad Basit Malik and they belonged to Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Layyah, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzzafargarh, Bahawalnagar, Gilgit, Gazr and Zhob.
As many as 19 persons have been booked so far in connection with the same offence. Authorities on Friday registered cases against seven individuals allegedly involved in spreading inflammatory propaganda through social media.
The ‘propagandists,’ hailing from Karachi, were accused of disseminating false narratives and anti-state content through various platforms.
The accused were Muhammad Sohail, Muhammad Junaid, Sheikh Muhammad Ihsan, Tariq Jamil, Syed Rizwan, Muhammad Ahmed, and Babar Azeem.
They are alleged to have used WhatsApp groups and X accounts to spread hateful and anti-state propaganda.
Officials confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects with strict legal action to follow.
Sources revealed that just a day earlier, cases were filed against 12 other propagandists who were involved in similar activities.
These suspects reportedly hailed from Karachi, Sanghar, Quetta, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, and Swat and are accused of inciting rebellion and engaging in activities that disrupt state affairs.
